An excellent cut flower. I prefer these over 'Pacific Giants' for cut flowers. And also they are better than Larkspur (Delphinium ajacus) because the petals don't shatter like the Larkspurs do. However, although perennial, the Magic Fountain Delphiniums tend to be a short-lived...usually no more than 3 years in my zone 5 garden. But they do bloom the first year from seed, which is a great plus, but the plants seem to be at their best in their second year.
