Germination: Difficult germination. Start seed indoors in 6-8 weeks prior to last spring frost. Sow seeds on good seed starting mix, covering seeds with about 1/4" mix. Moisten mix and keep moist until germination begins. Place container in location at 68-70°F. Seed should begin germinating in 10-20 days. If no germination, move container to the refrigerator for 60 days. (Seeds I sowed in March, 2008 are just now germinating, and although the seed was fresh in 2008, only four (4) seeds have germinated. This was after putting the seeds back in the refrigerator the whole winter, letting them totally dry out by mistake, and then rewatering in January, and then moving them to warm at the end of January. Winter sowing may be the best was to go except I do not know how hardy the seeds are as I never saw any seedling plants -- so for colder zones, I wouldn't winter sow until mid-February.
