Other info: An excellent fresh cut flower and very nice dried. Sometimes self-sows, but not as much as the other celosia. For drying your celosia 'Pink Candle', I find it best to cut the flowers before the begin forming seeds. If left uncut, they will form flowers 6" to 10" long, however, if dried at that stage, they lose their color. If you will look closely at the top photo, you will see that most of the flowers in the picture have already started seed formation (looking at the bottom portion of the flower). Also, if you begin cutting the flowers right away, celosia 'Pink Candle' will produce an abundance of side shoots.

Germination: Easy germination. Start indoors 2-4 weeks prior to last spring frost. Sow seed in container on good seed starting mix. Cover seeds lightly. Moisten mix and keep mix moist until germination begins. Place container in a location at 70°F. Germination should begin in 6-10 days. Does well direct sown to garden location after last spring frost, however, I find I contend with more weeds when I direct sow.
