#1697 Salpiglossis grandiflora (Painted Tongue) seeds:

Germination: Sow seeds on sterilized media and do not cover seeds. Place container in dark location and maintain 70°F soil temperature. Seeds should begin germinating in 14-16 days.   However, because seedlings are tiny stemmed, they are very difficult to transplant.   This year I direct sowed seeds to garden location two (2) weeks before our last frost date, and they did very well.
